North Regina Hockey Camp
Aug 13th-Sept 9th, 2023
Cooperators Centre
At the North Regina Hockey Camp, we believe that a great season is the result of conditioning and preparation! With small class sizes, 12 hours of ice time and qualified instructors, your child will be conditioned, prepared and ready to begin the season.
The North Regina Hockey Camp began in 1973. It was established in coordination with the Normanview, Coronation, Regent Park, Uplands and Argyle Park Community Associations.
The camp is designed to provide an opportunity for boys and girls to develop and improve their hockey skills by providing specialized instruction by qualified and experienced coaches. Instruction will emphasize a variety of age appropriate skills such as forwards & backwards power skating, passing & receiving, puck control, shooting, checking, systems position, goaltending and conditioning. A maximum of 4 goaltenders is permitted in each session.
Barry was born in 1957 in Vibank, Saskatchewan. He lived there until 1974 when he left to attend university at St. Francis Xavier in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He played hockey for the St. Francis Xavier X-MEN from 1975 to 1978 and earned the Most Improved Player award for the 1975-76 season. The X-MEN were a serious contender, capturing the Atlantic Championship in the 1975-76 and 1977-78 seasons.
After leaving St. Francis Xavier, Barry continued his education at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario where he received his Bachelor of Education Degree with a major in Mathematics. Upon completion of his education, Barry moved back to Regina and has been teaching Math and English in the Regina Catholic School Division for over 40 years.
Barry is the proud father of 2 adult children and 2 grandsons. He was lucky enough to build a life which involved his 3 biggest loves:children (his own and his students), hockey and teaching. The list below outlines Barry's athletic involvement in Regina.
